Expedition Gear

This page shows the typical gear that I take on a long (2-3 week) expedition. It is what I take and it works for me. For a trip like this, I use my Osprey Kestrel 38Litre pack. Generally expedition style means that the bulk of gear is carried by Sherpas or Porters so the rucsac only needs to contain the day stuff. Having said that, for an Alpine or night start when the temperature is going to vary dramatically, the rucsac needs to be able to cope with the minimum (food, water, camera etc) and the maximum (Down Jacket, Waterproofs, Hats, Gloves and basically everything you've been wearing in the cold of the night). Others might have a different list and I am always happy to discuss equipment and reasons for what I pack. Please contact me using the Contact Me form if you want to ask questions, comment on the gear or anything else. I'd love to hear from you. Back to the Expeditions Page
