An incident on the lower slopes of Elbrus

Breakfast is 9am but we are all ready early, bags packed considering whether or not our main gear bag will make it down to Base Camp (it didn't).

Route

The walk down was uneventful apart from the steep downhill where I couldn't resist leaving the group and running down at my pace, a combination of excess energy and natural desire to run down the hills - something I wouldn't think twice about in the UK.

After about 4 hours we arrive in Base Camp with nothing to do we drink beer and wine and listen to music, provided by my Spotify account - great fun for several hours until some of our gear arrives - luckily the sleeping bags, but oddly also the double boots, crampons and axes. No sign of the main gear bags - apparently they will arrive tomorrow! There's nothing I am desperately in need of so no worries.

Later on is dinner time - the food is noticeably better than the Top Camp. Bedtime follows.

Weather Report: Another fine day, little wind. Shorts and T-Shirts type weather but plenty of wind on the Summit and through the col.
