Outside Lungren Lodge

We had a very early breakfast which was surprising as we only had a three hour trek, Honey and chocolate pancake for breakfast which hit the spot nicely. We left around 8:15 having made the decision to wait for the sun to come up - Doh! We might as well have had a lie in.

It was quite a steep climb today, but we walked slowly enough and took plenty of good breaks for photos, rest and drinks. Quite a few of the team have coughs and a few are clearly finding the altitude a challenge as they are very slow. After 3 1/2 hours we arrived at the camp site area which was all ready for us, including a cook tent and a mess tent. Later, a toilet tent went up - that will be a real challenge in the morning.

Lunch was soon served including lemon tea and noodle soup. The main course was two cheese and tomato sandwiches, some small sausage and fried potato - excellent!

Renjo Lake Campsite at night

Not much to do in the afternoon. A few went for a walk but I decided to try and have a nap to catch up on some sleep. I managed a couple of hours until woken up by the chilled air resulting from the cloud moving up the valley and blocking the sun. Dinner times was interesting. We all had to squat on the floor in the tent which was barely big enough so it was quite uncomfortable. Dinner was quite reasonable, being Dhal Bat, rice and some vegetables. After dinner we sat around chatting for a while, it wasn't even 7pm. Later I went out to take some photos of the sky as it was a clear night with plenty of stars.

Tonight I had a tent to myself so could spread out. I read for a while but soon decided it was sleep time. It was quite cold in the night, I kept waking up with cold feet. My plan to strip off clearly was not a good one but in that half-asleep, half-awake state it is difficult (impossible) to get out into an even colder environment to put on extra layers so I toughed it out until morning.
